The Marching Arts Camp unites three specialized tracks — Leadership, Drum Major, and Drumline —providing focused instruction to help students excel both on and off the field.
Our Marching Band Leadership Camp is tailored for band members eager to enhance their leadership skills, this workshop is ideal for section leaders, band officers, and any band or guard member aiming to lead.

Welcome to our Drum Major Camp! Whether you’re already the drum major of your band or aspiring to take the podium, our specialized camp is designed to elevate your skills in conducting and leadership. Join us for a transformative experience where you will engage in a variety of activities, personalized help sessions for drum major teams, and fundamentals in score reading and marching. Develop stylistic conducting styles, learn effective teaching strategies, and master the art of creating salutes. This camp is your stepping stone to becoming a more confident and skilled drum major. Students will receive instruction in the following:
Our Drumline Camp is designed for percussionists who want to build a rock-solid foundation in marching percussion. With a strong emphasis on fundamentals and technique, students will receive focused instruction on marching snare, marching tenors, and marching bass drum—developing the skills needed to perform with confidence, consistency, and excellent musicianship. Campers should bring the instrument assigned by their director (or the instrument on which they will be most successful). Please note: marching cymbals and front ensemble are not included in this camp.
Check-in will be scheduled between 1:00pm-3:00pm on Sunday (the first day of camp). Camp begins at 4:00 pm, and Meals begin with dinner on Sunday.

Overnight campers stay in Carson-Newman residence halls in traditional double-occupancy rooms. Roommate requests are honored when possible; if a preferred roommate is not listed, assignments are made based on age, school, and/or camp division. Private rooms are not available.
All overnight campers are assigned a counselor—trained college students who support daily camp activities and live in the residence halls to supervise students.
After registration is received, a detailed camp handbook will be sent with information on check-in, check-out, housing, food, seating placement, campus maps, and a comprehensive list of what to bring.
Classes generally run from 8:00am-11:30am, 12:30-4:30pm, 6:00-9:00pm. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the camp Pricing. Students should check in at the cafeteria between 7:00-7:30am and check out at the Tarr Music Center Music Camp Office at 9:30 pm nightly.
The Marching Arts Camp Final Performance will take place on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Burke-Tarr Stadium. All camp divisions will perform, showcasing the conducting/musical progress achieved throughout the week. Families, friends, and guests are welcome to attend and celebrate our students’ work and growth.
Until April 30 (Before May 1) C-N SMC will refund paid fees above the $100 non-refundable deposit.
Starting May 1 C-N SMC will retain 100% of all fees – no refunds.
