The Music Department at Carson-Newman University is thrilled to hold its second annual High School Honor Choir! This event is open to high school choral students from all around the greater Knoxville and C-N regions for a two-day choral session happening September 26-27 in the Tarr Music Center on campus.
What is the cost? The Honor Choir weekend costs $30 dollars per student, which includes lunch on Saturday, music and a commemorative T-shirt to wear for the concert on Saturday afternoon.
When does it run? Rehearsal runs 2-5 pm on Friday 9/26 and 9:30 am-4 pm on Saturday 9/27, with a concert at 4:30 pm in the Thomas Recital Hall of the TMC.
What should students wear and bring? Casual school attire is fine for both days. For the Saturday concert students should wear jeans or comfortable pants and shoes; all students will wear the Honor Choir t-shirt for the concert.
What songs will we sing? We’ll sing the following four pieces:
Additionally, students have the opportunity to audition for a vocal solo or small ensemble to sing at the concert!! Auditions for solos will be held at the end of Friday’s activities; you must bring sheet music for our pianist to play. We anticipate featuring 3-4 soloists for the Saturday concert.
