Bridging the gap between campus and community.
“Everyone should look not only for his own interest, but also to the interest of others. Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 2:4-5
The Community Connections Scholarship Program at Carson-Newman University empowers students to live out the University’s mission through meaningful service, leadership, and faith-driven action. Rooted in community engagement, the program connects the campus with local service partners while addressing real needs across East Tennessee. Community Connections Scholars play a key role in planning, promoting, and executing campus-wide service events. They also gain hands-on experience in leadership, marketing, networking, and large-scale event coordination while leading fellow students in meaningful service opportunities.
Guided by mentorship through the Center for Community Engagement, scholars are equipped to serve with humility and compassion, reflecting Christ through their actions. Students selected for the Community Connections Scholarship receive $1,500 annually toward tuition at Carson-Newman University and graduate with valuable experience in student leadership, community partnership building, and event planning. Scholars are chosen through a competitive application and interview process held prior to matriculation.
