Orientation will be your exciting, engaging, and one-of-a-kind experiences that allow you to leap into campus life at Carson-Newman University. You will have so many opportunities to meet new friends and get involved on campus. Our Orientation Leaders are equipped with the knowledge to tackle any questions you may have. Incoming Freshman and Transfer Students are encouraged to participate in this uniquely Carson-Newman experience.

10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. One-Stop-Shop (Butler Hall) Students, if you have not E-Confirmed or are not sure, go to One Stop Shop today! 

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Transfer Student Move-In (Butler Hall & Alumni Hall) 

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Burnett Hall & Heritage Hall Move-In (Look for your assigned move-in time!) 

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Commuter Check-in (In front of Stephens-Burnett Library) 

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Commuter Social (Maples Library Café) Once you check-in, we will send you to the Commuter Social to meet other students and learn about commuter spaces. 

5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Welcome Dinner (Meet in MSAC 3-Gym area) 

9:00 p.m. Residence Hall Meetings (In your residence hall) 


Saturday, August 14 TALON TRANSITION DAY 

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Morning Welcome with Dr. Fowler (MSAC, Holt Gymnasium)  

10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Field Fest (Intramural Field - just down hill from App Commons)) 

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Lunch (Stokely Memorial Cafeteria) 

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Welcome Ceremony and Prayer Walk (First Baptist Church) 

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Soar Social (Henderson Lawn) - Enjoy a treat as you meet our faculty and staff. 

3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Family Transition Time (On your own) - Parents and families, we appreciate all you do for our students, but now is the time to say, “see you later.” 

3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Commuters, check out our student lounges! Student lounge in MSAC, Henderson 4th floor, Butler Blanc Gym Commuter Lounge, and Maples (see your map for locations)  

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Dinner with Orientation Group (Stokely Memorial Cafeteria) 

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Orientation Olympics (Burke-Tarr Stadium) Students, get ready for your first intramural competition! Win the first intramural t-shirt of the year!

Sunday, August 15 EAGLES EXPLORE DAY 

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Breakfast (Stokely Memorial Cafeteria) 

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Worship Service (Gentry Auditorium in Henderson HallDress for your trips because you will be leaving for your adventure following the service. 

10:15 a.m. Load up for trips! (Tarr Music Center) 


Monday, August 16 EAGLES ACADEMIC DAY 

9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Library Job Fair (Stephens-Burnett Memorial Library)  (Danny Nicely will be interviewing students for library positions.) 

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Talon Time: How do I use my catalog? Where are my classes? Am I ready for class? What is a CLW? How do I track CLWs? Where do I get academic support?  Your Orientation Leader will designate your meet-up location. 

 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Student Job Fair (3-Gym in MSAC) Your Orientation Leader will bring you to see what campus jobs and off-campus jobs/volunteer opportunities are available. 

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Dinner with Orientation Group (Stokely Memorial Cafeteria) 

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Scavenger Hunt (The Eyrie) Go on a scavenger hunt with your orientation leader for the win!  


Tuesday, August 17 WELCOME WEEK BEGINS 

5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Block Party (Ted Russell Courtyard) New students will meet with their orientation leaders to go to the picnic. Picnic, live music, games, and fun for everyone!
