Carson-Newman and LMU basketball rivalry to be broadcast by WVLT Channel 8

(Nov. 15, 2016) – Knoxville TV station WVLT Channel 8 will broadcast “live” two Carson-Newman University and Lincoln Memorial University basketball doubleheaders on its network affiliate MYVLT on Nov. 22 and on Jan. 25.

The first doubleheader will air from Carson-Newman’s Holt Fieldhouse at 6 and 8 p.m. and feature the two schools’ women’s and men’s teams. The Jan. 25, 2017, doubleheader will be broadcast from Lincoln Memorial at 6 and 8 p.m.

“I am excited for both our men’s and women’s teams, and the opportunity that Mark Packer, WVLT and our administration are providing,” said Chuck Benson, head basketball coach at Carson-Newman. “This will allow people in East Tennessee who haven’t been on our campus or to see our teams play, a chance to become more familiar with Carson-Newman University and NCAA D2 basketball.”
