University’s Lang and Gass announce new book honoring Jefferson City history

(Nov. 21, 2014) – Carson-Newman University’s Linda Gass and Albert Lang have announced the release of their new book through Arcadia Publishing entitled “Jefferson City.” The public is invited to meet the authors during a Dec. 1 book signing at The Creek Café from 5-7 p.m. Another sighing is scheduled for Dec. 4 from 4-6 p.m. at The Jefferson City Public Library.

Available Nov. 24, “Jefferson City” contains a glimpse into the city’s rich history with over 200 vintage images, many donated from the private collections of local residents. From Mossy Creek to present day Jefferson City, the work weaves a pictorial history of the area and its residents.

“We hope that our book will bring back wonderful memories of past days in Jefferson City and the wonderful people who helped make it such a special place to live,” said Lang, who serves as Carson-Newman’s Special Collections librarian and archivist. Gass serves as archives assistant at the University.

The release is the second book for the authors, as they released “Carson-Newman College” last year.

The books are available at area bookstores, independent retailers and online. They may also be purchased through Arcadia Publishing at 888-313-2665.
