Ten announce retirements from Carson-Newman this spring

Ten members of Carson-Newman’s faculty and staff were honored during a University reception this spring. Pictured left to right are: Dee Trull, Jann Walker, Jill Seals, Sheryl Gray, Sharon McAnear, Darlene Wambaugh, Laura Wadlington, Connie Kenyon, Jean Love and Mark Brock.

Ten Carson-Newman faculty and staff members announced retirements this spring. The group represents a staggering 273 years of combined service to the University. Those retiring are:

  • Mark Brock, professor of TESL- 19 years
  • Sheryl Gray, registrar- 35 years
  • Jean Love, associate professor of physical education & exercise science- 34 years
  • Connie Kenyon, coordinator of administrative software services- 23 years
  • Sharon McAnear, associate professor of nursing- 22 years
  • Jill Seals, administrative assistant to the vice president of athletics- 28 years
  • Dee Trull, switchboard- 22 years
  • Laura Wadlington, chair of psychology & professor- 33 years
  • Jann Walker, admissions administrative assistant & visit coordinator- 30 years
  • Darlene Wambaugh, senior associate financial aid director & compliance specialist- 27 years

“Our faculty and staff do a tremendous job of making Carson-Newman a place that exudes the love of Christ and makes our campus a home for our students,” said University President Charles A. Fowler. “These ten individuals are prime examples of doing just that. Each served our University well and did their part to help our students become educated citizens and worldwide servant-leaders. Future faculty and staff who serve here will build upon the legacy of these incredible people who have served C-N so faithfully,” he said. “Though they are retiring, they will always be valued members of our C-N family.”
