Curriculum

HTM 302: Hotel and Lodging Management (3 credit hours)
This foundational course provides students with an overview of the hotel lodging industry, covering essential topics such as hotel operations, front office management, and housekeeping practices. Students will learn about the various types of accommodations, revenue management strategies, and the importance of customer service that focuses on the Christian faith.

HTM 304: Travel, Tourism, and Sustainability (3 credit hours)
In this course, students will investigate the relationship between travel, tourism, and sustainable development goals. Topics include the socio-economic impacts of tourism, responsible travel behavior, and the role of policy in promoting sustainability within the industry. Students will learn how to incorporate servant-leadership in the tourism industry.

HTM 402: Resort Management (3 credit hours)
This course provides a comprehensive overview of resort and vacation ownership management, spa management and the cruise line industry. Key concepts such as property development, operations industry trends, customer service, and loyalty through a Christian worldview lens.

HTM 465: Internship (3 credit hours)
Students will be required to complete a structured internship within the hospitality industry exposing the student to as many facets of the business as possible. Internships require weekly activity logs, signed by the internship supervisor at the property. The culminating activity will require students to address how they will incorporate a Christian worldview as a professional in the hospitality industry. Internships are required to be pre-approved by the Program Director prior to registering for the course.
