As a Family and Consumer Sciences major, you’ll focus on the managerial skills needed in the workplace and the home, such as financial management, stress management, resource allocation, organization and time management skills.
Coursework covers a wide range of topics and can be customized depending on your area of interest. The consumer services emphasis includes classes in multicultural etiquette, personal and family finance and cooperative management and housing. The FCS education emphasis leads to licensure in grades 6-12 and prepares you to teach courses like leadership development, food science and nutrition, interior design, hospitality and social services. As an FCS major, you’ll be eligible to sit for the Certification in Family and Consumer Sciences exam during the spring of your senior year.
