Stephanie Welsh

Associate Professor of Psychology; Director of Institutional Effectiveness

Dr. Stephanie Welsh holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. She teaches Introduction to Psychology, Understanding Human Behavior, and Research Methods and Statistics. She is an expert in SPSS syntax, and her research interests include bilingual language development, attention, and perception.

Dr. Welsh grew up in a small town in Illinois where she met her (then future) husband in 7th grade. She continued her education in Illinois by receiving a B.S in Psychology and a B.A. in Spanish at Olivet Nazarene University. In the summer between undergraduate and graduate school, Dr. Welsh married her high school sweetheart. After completing an M.A. in Developmental Psychology at Northern Illinois University, Dr. Welsh transferred to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. There she completed an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. A few months before she defended her dissertation, Dr. Welsh gave birth to a blessed baby girl. Dr. Welsh enjoys spending time with her family, practicing archery, playing board games, and reading young adult novels prolifically. She is proud to be part of the Carson-Newman family.
