People Robert Bishop Robert Bishop Assistant Professor of Philosophy In 2002, my family moved from Puerto Rico to the foothills of East Tennessee. Much later, here at Carson-Newman University, I studied Poetry and Philosophy. I then completed my PhD in Philosophy at Florida State University. After several years of teaching at California State University, San Bernardino, I returned to Carson-Newman as an assistant professor of philosophy. I teach courses on Value Theory, Action, and History of Philosophy. My research focuses on various topics and thinkers in these areas, particularly Aristotle and G.E.M. Anscombe. When I’m not doing philosophy, I’m usually reading, cooking, or playing pickup soccer. My wife (Hannah), our daughter (Shiloh), and I live in Knoxville.
