People Jonathan Akin Jonathan Akin Vice President for Church Relations & Campus Ministries Dr. Jonathan Akin is the Vice President for Church Relations and Campus Ministries at Carson-Newman University. He also serves as the Director of a pastor training program for the North American Mission Board called “Leadership Institute” and as an adjunct Old Testament professor at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Akin is the author of books like Preaching Christ from Proverbs, Exalting Jesus in Proverbs, and Exalting Jesus in Ecclesiastes, as well as a contributor to Louie Giglio’s The Jesus Bible and R. Albert Mohler’s The Grace and Truth Study Bible. He has served as a pastor of churches in Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. He and his wife Ashley have three children — Maddy, Emma Grace and Judson.
