Cassandra Catlett

Dean, School of Business and Family and Consumer Sciences; Chair, Business Department; Associate Professor of Accounting

Professor Catlett earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Computer Information Systems from Carson-Newman University, followed by a Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS). Professor Catlett is currently serving as Interim Dean of the School of Business and Family Consumer Sciences, Chair of the Department of Business, and Associate Professor of Accounting.

After stepping away from academia in 2017 to resume active practice in accounting and financial planning, Professor Catlett returned to Carson-Newman University in the spring of 2020. She had previously served on the faculty from 2007 to 2017.

Prior to joining Carson-Newman University, Professor Catlett worked as a tax manager and personal financial planner in public accounting. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Chuck, their two children, Tyler (Taylor Anne) and Lauren (Trey), and her grandchildren, Beau, Nora, and Riley Kate. She is also an active member of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City and volunteers with several local charities.
