Anita Azeem

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Anita Azeem, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Carson-Newman University. She teaches courses in Social Psychology, Human Development and Media Psychology. She has taught Psychology in three countries: Pakistan, New Zealand and United States of America.

Dr. Azeem’s work integrates social and developmental psychology with a focus on intergroup relations and media effects. She studies how narratives, ideological beliefs, and media framing shape perception, emotional responses, and attitudes toward social groups.

Her research combines experimental and developmental approaches to understand how children and adults interpret social information, particularly in relation to identity, diversity, and belonging. She also engages in public scholarship and, more recently, with children’s literature that promotes empathy, dignity, and the psychological foundations of inclusion.
