Andrew McCoy

Adjunct Instructor of Music - Guitar

Andrew McCoy serves as adjunct professor of music at Carson-Newman University, teaching private guitar lessons as well as class guitar. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Guitar from Belmont University, studying with Mario DaSilva and Dr. David Bridges. During this time, he composed an award-winning piece for carillon which is performed annually by Dr. Richard Shadinger on the carillons at both Sewanee: The University of the South and Belmont.
Upon the completion of his undergraduate degree, he moved to Kansas City and taught music theory, ear training and guitar at the Forerunner Music Academy. Andrew completed his Master of Music in Jazz Studies at the University of Tennessee, studying with Mark Boling, Keith Brown, Gregory Tardy, and Donald Brown. Before joining the faculty at Carson-Newman, Andrew served as an adjunct professor of guitar at Lincoln Memorial University.
Today, Andrew is a member various jazz, blues, rock, worship and avant-garde ensembles. He and his wife Emily released an album entitled “Song of Solomon” which can be found on iTunes and Spotify.
