This Campus Hazing Transparency Report is published pursuant to the Stop Campus Hazing Act and summarizes findings of responsibility for hazing violations involving recognized student organizations at Carson-Newman University.
Carson-Newman University prohibits hazing in any form. Hazing is defined in accordance with university policy and Tennessee state law as any intentional or reckless act that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student in relation to initiation, admission, membership, or affiliation in a student organization.
The University may take disciplinary action against both individuals and organizations for hazing violations, including temporary or permanent loss of privileges or recognition.
Reports of hazing can be submitted using the University’s reporting channels. Reports can be made with the Dean of Students or with the Department of Public Safety. Once a report is received, the Dean of Students and/or Public Safety conducts a formal investigation, which may include interviews, fact-finding, and review of documentation or evidence.
Findings of responsibility are made in accordance with University procedures.
For each organization found responsible for hazing, the following information will be included:

Dates
Sanctions Imposed: Example sanctions (e.g., loss of recognition, probation, training, etc.)
Additional narrative may be included as long as no personally identifiable information is disclosed.
This report contains no personally identifiable information and is prepared in compliance with FERPA regulations.
This report is updated at least twice per year, and related records are maintained for five years in accordance with federal law.
No hazing incidents reported.
