Eagle Archers welcome first signee

Dillon Burnette, center, stands with Carson-Newman University Archery Coach Micah Davis, right, and Jim Laird, his mentor and coach in barebow archery. Burnette is the first signee to join C-N’s Eagle Archers, the University’s new collegiate competition archery team.

Carson-Newman University’s archery program signed its first team member on March 28. Dillon Burnette of Loudon High School is the inaugural member of Eagle Archers.

Burnette crafted his archery skill at Harvest Archery in Dayton, Tennessee. His resume highlights include being named Shooter of the Year and State Champion for Indoor in 2019. He was 2020 ASA Archery Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee State Champion. He is also 2022-23 Shooter of the Year.

“We’re thrilled to have Dillon help launch Eagle Archers,” said Micah Davis, Carson-Newman’s archery coach. “I look forward to working with him as we prepare for Carson-Newman to enter archery competition.”

With collegiate competition starting this fall, Eagle Archers join C-N outdoor sport teams, Eagle Anglers and Kayak Eagle Anglers under with the University’s Intercollegiate Recreational Sports Department.
