The Association of Collegiate Anglers posted Carson-Newman Eagle Anglers as No. 1 in point standings in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. With the points update, Carson-Newman garners the top spot for the first time in program history.

“Being ranked No. 1 at this point in the season is very exciting for our guys,” said C-N Head Coach Hunter Sales. “They’ve done an excellent job taking care of business both on and off the water. If we’re able to stay focused through the spring, we have a real chance to bring our first School of the Year title back to Jefferson City.”

The news comes following a MLF College Series regular season event at the Harris Chain and the MLF Championship at Lake Toho. It is the first points update of 2024. The University of North Alabama move to No. 2 while defending School of the Year winner University of Montevallo fell to the 3rd spot.

At the Harris Chain event, the Eagle Anglers earned the most points of any team in the MLF College Series regular season event. Carson-Newman’s top two teams composed of Nicholas Dellaporta and Drew Pitts, along with Riley Faulkner and Szymon Piton finished 4th and 12th respectively.

The Eagle Anglers had five team compete in the MLF College Series Championship on Lake Toho. The top two C-N teams were Ben Cully and Hayden Gaddis with an 8th place finish and Drake Hemby and Ewing Minor earning the 13th spot.
