Carson-Newman holds 2015 Winter Commencement

Retired U.S. Army Major General Mike Jones speaks to Carson-Newman graduates during the University’s Winter Commencement.

(Dec. 14, 2015) – Carson-Newman recognized over 100 graduates during its Winter Commencement held in the University’s Holt Fieldhouse. Retired U.S. Army Major General Mike Jones delivered the commencement address.

Jones, a 1977 alumnus, encouraged graduates to work for success while understanding that symbols of such, like fancy offices, expensive cars and even military medals, are temporary. He said he hoped they would also afford themselves and others grace when mistakes are made and closed with a personal lesson. Noting that life consists of moments, he encouraged listeners allow the past and future their proper places by learning to live in the present.
