(Jan. 5, 2016) –Carson-Newman University’s chapter of Alpha Chi national honor society was recently named a Star Chapter for the 2014-15 academic year. According to the national honor society, based in Searcy, Arkansas, less than one fifth of the nation’s Alpha Chi chapters receive the honor.

It is the 18th straight year Carson-Newman has earned the Star Chapter Award.

The honor includes local, national, and administrative components and recognizes the work of chapters that are successful in each aspect.

The announcement caps a successful year for Carson-Newman’s chapter that, under the leadership of Dr. Kip Wheeler, won four top student awards and one chapter award during the 2015 Alpha Chi National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

Carson-Newman’s chapter will be recognized in April at the 2016 national convention in Washington, D.C.

Since 1922 Alpha Chi’s purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction.
