Public invited to “Eagles Night,” evening of family fun

Carson-Newman University invites the community to “Eagles Night,” an evening of family fun on campus. The Thursday, Feb. 5 event benefits Isaiah 117 House and Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies (AMOS). “Eagles Night” is sponsored by C-N’s Community Connections Scholars in collaboration with C-N Athletics, Center for Community Engagement, Student Experiences, and local churches.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. families and children of all ages are invited to the Maddox Student Activities Center located on Branner Ave. in Jefferson City. The event will feature a variety of games with members of the Eagles athletic teams, and even offer participants have their picture made with Carson-Newman’s mascot, Talon.

“After the success of last year’s inaugural Eagles Night, my biggest hope this year is that even more families from Jefferson City and our surrounding communities feel welcomed, encouraged, and cared for on our campus,” said Courtenay Folk, director of C-N’s Center for Community Engagement. “We want the evening to be a place where children and parents can laugh, play, and make memories with our students and athletes.”

Participants are encouraged, though not required, to bring a donation item from a list of options:

  • Canned goods
  • Clothing in all sizes (only new)
  • Diapers, wipes, baby formula
  • Personal hygiene items & cleaning supplies
  • Gift cards (restaurants, groceries, etc.)

“Eagles Night fits beautifully with Carson-Newman’s Christ-centered mission because it combines joyful hospitality, service, and community care in one event,” said Folk. “By inviting our neighbors onto campus for an affordable, family-friendly evening and directing every donation and food dollar to organizations that serve vulnerable children and families, we are demonstrating Christ’s love and concern for “the least of these.””

All items benefit Isaiah 117 House and AMOS. Food will be available with all money raised also going toward the two ministries.
