Carson-Newman makes strong statement in U.S. News rankings

Carson-Newman University makes a strong statement in the newly released U.S. News and World Report’s 2026 Best Online Programs rankings. According to the publication, released Jan. 27, Carson-Newman leads all Tennessee private universities in two categories and is No. 2 among the state’s private universities in two other categories.

“It’s always an honor when our university is recognized by others for the academic excellence we offer, whether on campus or online,” said University President Charles A. Fowler. “Our commitment to being a private, Christ-centered university allows us to be who we are and to have the mission we have. So to hear the news in these latest rankings that Carson-Newman is considered a leader among all private Tennessee universities, is certainly a reason to celebrate.”

Within the “Best Online Master’s in Education Programs” category, Carson-Newman’s Education Program is No. 1 among private universities in the state and ranks No. 2 among all Tennessee universities, trailing only the University of Memphis.

Among Tennessee private universities, U.S. News and World Report ranks Carson-Newman No. 2 in the “Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs,” falling only behind Vanderbilt University. Carson-Newman is named No. 3 among all Tennessee universities.

Carson-Newman ranks above all Tennessee private universities within the “Best Online Master’s in MBA Programs.” The University’s online MBA Program receives a No. 6 ranking among all universities in the state.

In the “Best Online Bachelor’s Programs” Carson-Newman earns the No. 2 spot among Tennessee private universities and No. 4 among all Tennessee universities.

The celebrated news comes on the heels of Carson-Newman being named a South’s “Best Bang for the Buck” by Washington Monthly in the fall.
