University to host pianist Holly Roadfeldt, Oct. 22

(October 16, 2015) — Carson-Newman University will host a solo recital performance by pianist Holly Roadfeldt Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Recital Hall.

The recital will feature favorites by Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin and Rachmaninoff, as well as some works by contemporary composers.

Roadfeldt is a versatile performer whose concerts regularly mix newly commissioned music with established masterpieces. Her mission is to inspire and advocate for piano music of the highest caliber.

She recorded Chopin’s Op. 28 Preludes and the 26 Preludes by Kirk O’Riordan, released by Parma Records, in the Summer of 2015. She has played at numerous universities and music festivals since 2014, and will continue into 2016.

Roadfeldt has premiered in nearly 100 solo and chamber works. In 1996 she was awarded the prize for “Best Performance of a 20th Century American Composition” in the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition, which resulted in a performance in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

The event is free and open to the public. Thomas Recital Hall is located in the Tarr Music Building along Russell Ave. on Carson-Newman’s campus.
