Randall O’Brien (left) stands with University staff members Libby Miller and Donnie Newman. The University recently presented Miller and Newman with the institution’s SOAR Award for the 2015-16 academic year. It is the first time Carson-Newman has awarded dual recipients. The honor is the highest award given to a staff member and recognizes an individual who exhibits such qualities as excellence in job performance and a positive spirit. Miller, who joined C-N’s staff in 1998, serves as executive assistant to the president, while Newman serves as director of the University’s Media Center. Newman joined C-N in 1986.
