Dr. Jeremy Buckner, chair of the University’s Music Department, championed the quartet’s 2013 performance on campus. “Those who attended last year will remember the musical brilliance of this group and will certainly look forward to hearing this ensemble again.” Along with quartet members Andy Bryenton and Edward Pulgar, who both also serve as adjunct Carson-Newman music faculty, are Kathryn Gawne and Gordon Tsai. The group will perform works by Beethoven, Shostakovich and Amaya. The KSO Principal String Quartet is an ensemble of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, which has been an established music tradition for the East Tennessee region for some 75 years.
