(Dec. 2, 2013) – Carson-Newman University’s A Cappella Choir and alumni bring Christmas tidings with a Dec. 1 release of a 10-track CD, “An A Cappella Alumni Christmas.”

CDs are $15 and include traditional secular and sacred Christmas favorites. From “White Christmas” to “Silent Night,” the men and women of A Cappella bring the sounds of the season to everyone.

According to Dr. Eric Thorson, director of the project, the undertaking has been 15 to 20 years in the making. Thorson said he wanted to find a way to allow A Cappella alumni to be a part of the ensemble again in a way that could live beyond the performance.

“We thought it would be nice to do something that they could put in their hands, keep and remember,” Thorson said.

The CD was recorded Friday, Oct. 18, during Carson-Newman’s 2013 Homecoming. It was an opportunity for University alumni to join with current members and create a lasting memory. Over 180 current and past members participated.

“A lot of their Carson-Newman experience was wrapped up in A Cappella,” explained Thorson.

Those interested in purchasing a CD can do so by going online at acappellaalumni.com, and visiting the “A Cappella Store,” or by contacting Thorson directly at either ethorson@cn.edu or (865) 471-3422. A $5 shipping fee may be applied. Supplies are limited.
