Carson-Newman Honors Royalty during Home Sweet Homecoming

 

2011 C-N Homecoming Royalty- Marliee Betz (center), last year’s queen, congratulates C-N Homecoming Queen Amy Cate and John-Mark Brown, who were selected by vote of the College’s student body last week.

Seniors Amy Cate, of Knoxville, and John-Mark Brown, of Talbott, were named Carson-Newman’s 2011 homecoming queen and king during halftime of today’s game against the University of North Carolina-Pembroke. C-N President Randall O’Brien and Marilee Betz, last year’s queen, presented crowns to Cate and Brown.

Cate, a special education major, is the daughter of Gary and Kathy Cate. Brown, a religion major with minors in biblical Greek and sociology, is the son of Mark and Cathy Brown.

Other senior homecoming queen nominees included:

Andrea Beck, Oliver Springs, a psychology major and mental health minor. She is the daughter of Teresa and David Freels and Gene Beck.

Kayla Beth Moore, Tellico Plains, a double major in English and religion with an Oxford studies minor. Her parents are Steve and Sue Moore.

Hannah Williams, Seymour, a double major in literature and graphic design. She is the daughter of Scott and Yvonne Williams.

Senior king nominees were:

Daniel Elliot, a religion major from Clinton, and the son of Rev. Stan and Lydia Elliot.

Adam Tarver, a double major in applied psychology and religion. He is the son of Knoxville’s Scott and Jan Tarver,

Adam Tilson, a Seymour religion major who is the son of Joel and Luanne Tilson.

Junior class representative included Katelyn Davenport of Crossville, escorted by Luke Konkle Circleville, Ohio; Caroline Hudson of Abingdon, Virginia and her escort, Matt Gossett of White House; and Rachel Tucker, Dandridge, who was escorted by Tullahoma’s Neil Whitehead.

Sophomore class representatives were Analyn Borthick, of Springfield, who was escorted by Randall Nored, from Birmingham, Alabama, and Knoxville’s Bethany Parker, who was escorted by Jon Morgan Keene, of Woodstock, Georgia. Freshman court members were Knoxville’s Chelsea Buchanan and Ryan O’Neal, White House.
