category: Campus News Two C-N Teams to Compete in Regional Film Festival category: Campus News | August 30, 2011 Two teams of Carson-Newman film students will be competing in the Secret City Film Festival’s Seven-Day Shootout. It is a competition that provides aspiring and seasoned filmmakers an opportunity to produce a short film in just 7 days. The student teams and other participants will be given a genre, a line of dialogue, a prop, and a visual element to include in their films. They then will have seven days to create a seven-minute film. These productions will be screened as part of the Secret City Film Festival in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on Saturday, September 17. Last year, two Carson-Newman student teams competed in the Seven-Day Shootout. They were given the categories of musical and drama as part of the competition. One of the films, “8 or 9” went on to be an official selection in Gatlinburg Screenfest Film Festival. The film was created by a team headed by senior film major Jason Hotchkiss and told the story of a plot to eject Pluto as an official member of the League of Planets. The Carson-Newman Film Program is also an official sponsor of the Secret City Film Festival.
