University to launch new website homepage May 31

(May 20, 2014)– “After much planning, research and design work, we’re excited to introduce the new cn.edu,” says Mary Leidig, Carson-Newman’s executive director of University Relations.

“Our students, graduates, prospective student families and friends will soon land on a brand new website homepage. Users will instantly feel an emotional connection with Carson-Newman through a variety of large images and stories. They will experience simplified ease of navigation and be able to quickly go to the pages they wish to visit,” Leidig says. The primary “reskin” is of the homepage itself. New design of additional subpages is planned.

Executive Vice President and Provost Kina Mallard says the University’s webpage plays a critical role in welcoming students who are interested in learning more about Carson-Newman.

“We know that one of the best ways to connect with today’s prospective students online is to make our website experience personal with compelling visual stories, while making it easy for them to find what they need,” explained Mallard. “We want our University website to be the next best thing to actually visiting our campus and getting that Carson-Newman experience.”

Leidig says that for the site to be successful it was important to work with the University’s Admissions Office. Enthusiastically endorsed by the admissions area, the new homepage will continue to be a key recruiting tool.

“Our website is our front door to the University, and we want to emotionally engage our audiences instantly,” she says. “Upon landing on the new cn.edu, users will also find our mission statement on every page of the website – a vivid description of who we are as an institution. Users will also find a brand new, expanded “Newsroom” with easy access to web stories and videos that tell the great, transformational experiences of our students, faculty and alumni.”

Users will continue to be able to access news, admission information and programs of study from their smart phones and tablets, as well as find the university’s social media icons, with links to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.

The new cn.edu homepage launches May 31.
