International students will have tables representing their home countries where they will share artwork, food, games, folk stories, music, dancing and more. “I think it’s important for the community and the Carson-Newman students who oftentimes are not aware of the diversity that’s on campus,” said Regina Sullivan, dean of global education. “I think it’s important for them to learn about these students on a social and cultural level.” Carson-Newman currently has more than 110 international students from 23 different countries. Sullivan said she hopes learning about international students’ home countries will inspire other students to take advantage of Carson-Newman’s many study abroad programs. “It lets the students know they have a larger world out there and will hopefully spark an interest in traveling and studying where these students are from,” Sullivan said. Children who attend the International Festival will be given a pretend passport to be stamped at each nation’s table. Carson-Newman’s MSAC is located on Branner Avenue in Jefferson City.
