University to host community gathering and prayer vigil in aftermath of Orlando mass shooting

(June, 15, 2016) – Carson-Newman University invites the regional community to join its campus family this Friday, June 17, as they bear witness to the lives of the victims of Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando, Florida.

The gathering will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at “The Columns” located on Henderson lawn in the heart of Carson-Newman’s campus. A short program will be followed by a period of reflection, prayer, and remembrance in witness to the 49 victims being laid to rest in the coming days. The event is open to the public.
