University announces historic record enrollment for fall

Carson-Newman University has reached the largest enrollment in its 174-year history. University officials announced today a total student enrollment of 2,922 students, breaking the previous record of 2,911 set in fall 2020.

“We couldn’t be more excited about what is happening at Mossy Creek,” said University President Charles A. Fowler. “What a blessing to welcome a record number of students to the Carson-Newman family. We are so grateful that God grants us the opportunity to shape the hearts and minds of our students as they pursue God’s purpose for their lives.

“We thank God for the privilege of offering a transformational educational experience that is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” he said. “Thankfully students are increasingly attracted to a distinctively Christian education like we offer at Carson-Newman.”

The highwater mark, representing a 9% increase over the 2024/25 academic year, is led by a strong fall undergraduate population. Carson-Newman students this year represent 44 states and 49 countries – fulfilling a mission with roots deep in East Tennessee but a reach that extends around the world.
