Tri-Alpha induction celebrates first-generation students

Tri-Alpha President Kari Pierce congratulates C-N sophomore Berenice Garcia Perez of Jefferson City on being inducted to the University’s Delta Psi chapter.

Carson-Newman University celebrated first-generation college students during its second annual Tri-Alpha national honor society induction. The Delta Psi chapter inducted 16 students along with eight faculty and staff members.

First-generation students are students whose parent(s) did not complete a four-year college or university degree. At Carson-Newman, 45% of students are first-generation. Carson-Newman President Charles A. Fowler was inducted into Tri-Alpha in the inaugural installation in 2022.
