Alden Starnes

Professor of Mathematics

Alden Starnes joined the C-N Mathematics Faculty in August 2001. His special areas of interest are Statistics, Real Analysis and Linear Algebra. He also enjoys enhancing student learning through Strat-O-Matic Baseball and College Football. Additionally, Starnes is the C-N football PA announcer, C-N faculty dual enrollment facilitator, campus statistician and athletics director for the C-N Kappa Mu Epsilon Tennessee Delta chapter.

Outside of C-N he serves as Deacon, Sunday School director and 8th string pianist at Mill Springs Baptist Church. Starnes is a past president of the Starnes Triennial Association, and a member of the Jefferson County Genealogical Society. Alden and his wife Mary have two grown children, Elizabeth (John) Pires and Enoch (Reanon) Starnes, and one granddaughter, Julia Pires. Starnes holds Mathematics and Statistics degrees from Carson-Newman, Virginia Tech and the University of Kentucky.
