category: Campus News Faculty News: Feb. 2013 category: Campus News | February 8, 2013 David Underwood, professor of art, had one large composite photograph included in “Photography at the Edge,” an international, juried competition and art exhibition. The work will be on exhibit at the Newspace Center for Photography in Portland, Oregon, during the month of February. Dr. Kara Stooksbury has co-written a book chapter with Lori Maxwell. The chapter is entitled “Only in America. A Meso-Level Analysis of Country Music’s Political Melody: Patriotism, Parochialism and Patriarchy.” The chapter appears in the book “A Change is Gonna Come: Popmusik and Politik” by Dietmar Schiller. Dr. Bethany White has recently published a collection of poetry, Fast Fat Girls in Pink Hot Pants. The collection traces her travels as daughter, student, mother, artist, and academic above and below the Mason-Dixon Line. The cover photo for the book was taken by English alumna Hannah Williams. White will have a reading and signing of the collection on Sunday, February 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Union Avenue Books in Knoxville. Copies are available on Amazon.com.
