Event Location: Thomas Recital Hall, Located in the Tarr Music Center Event Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Tenor Brandon Hollihan and pianist Junghwa Lee will be performing Franz Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise (“Winter Journey”) as a staged dramatization in the Tarr Music Center at Carson-Newman University on Monday, August 26 at 7:30 pm.
One of Schubert’s last compositions, Winterreise explores themes of love, isolation, and mortality in a 24-song program for solo voice and piano. Both programs are sung in German, with English translations and program notes. The staged presentation at Carson-Newman will be complete with set design, costumes, props, and even other actors interacting with the singer on stage. This special event is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Appalachian College Association. Featuring current C-N students Molly Cox, Trais Garrett, and Noah Hubbard, as well as alumni Turner Bell and Zachary O’Connor working in the cast and crew.
The performance is free, with a freewill offering to help support choral projects at Carson-Newman, respectively.
