Part-time hours, if applicable: N/A Supervisory Responsibilities: None Summary Description: The Graphic Designer provides creative assistance, conceptual design, and design production for Carson-Newman University branding efforts. This position will create digital and printed elements as assigned for Carson- Newman recruiting efforts, social media platforms, departmental materials, brand enhancement, plus internal and external communications (Digital elements could include: photography, graphics, motion or animated graphics, etc.). This position will focus on enhancing the Carson-Newman University brand daily. Collaborate with various campus departments on design/project requests Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team on brand standards Design content using industry-standard software Assist with projects from concept to final production Collaborate with Creative Director on projects and assignments Assist in coordinating/communicating with outside design and print partners as needed Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing Strategy This description is designed to describe the general nature of the job and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills and duties. Education: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, or related field Experience: Minimum of two years experience (preferred) in graphic design, content creation, or social media marketing Required Skills: MacOS computer experience with required knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; Must be able to create engaging and compelling printed, digital and social content; Strong attention to detail; Strong knowledge of photography & composition principles; Requires strong artistic & graphics skills; Must have a strong eye and a high aesthetic for graphic and interactive design, typography, photography, etc.; Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt quickly; Excellent organizational skills; Good self-starter and time manager; Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; Awareness of current trends in digital and social media; Good interpersonal skills – ability to interact with a positive spirit with Marketing & Communications team; Ability to collaborate and take direction on projects and accept constructive feedback and assistance if needed; Ability to develop working relationships on campus; Knowledge of pre-press and four-color printing process preferred but not required Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
