Annual Ball Alumni Recital features Carson-Newman graduates Ellis and Hendrix

(September 11, 2015) — Carson-Newman University will host its Ball Alumni Recital Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Recital Hall.

This year’s recital features performances by Pianist Olivia Ellis and Soloist Allison Hill Hendrix. Carson-Newman Staff Accompanist and alumnus Brandon Coffer will join Hendrix in her performance.

Ellis graduated in 2005, going on to become an assistant professor of music at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee. She serves as vice president of the Chattanooga Music Teachers Association and co-advises the organization’s Chattanooga Area Collegiate chapter.

Hendrix, a 2011 graduate, teaches at Knoxville’s North Shore Elementary School and is an adjunct professor at Carson-Newman. She conducts a 75-voice after-school choir, leads a ukulele ensemble and teaches extracurricular courses in creative movement and musical theatre.

The late Mary Charlotte Ball established the Ball Alumni Recital in honor of her late husband Dr. Louis Ball. A longtime professor and administrator, Dr. Ball was a visionary in the Tarr Music Center’s development.

The concert is free and open to the public. Thomas Recital Hall is located in the Tarr Music Center along Russell Avenue on Cason-Newman’s campus.
