Students to benefit from Carson-Newman, Walters State partnership

Cassandra Catlett, Carson-Newman Dean for the School of Business and Family and Consumer Sciences, works with business students during class. The University announced transfer articulations with Walters State for student wishing to pursue a four-year degree.

Carson-Newman University and Walters State Community College are partnering to the benefit of students seeking four-year degrees.

The two institutions signed articulation agreements covering six programs that will allow for a seamless transfer for students seeking to continue their education beyond their two-year degree. The agreements are designed to simplify the transfer process.

“My own education began with a local community college before transferring to complete my bachelor’s degree,” said Dr. Jeremy J. Buckner Carson-Newman’s provost. “We receive wonderfully prepared students from our educational partner, Walters State. These transfer articulations continue our strong partnership helping East Tennesseans to pursue higher education that is accessible and affordable. I am delighted that Carson-Newman is able to partner with Walters State, each of us contributing to the development of our students to their full potential.”

The agreement targets six programs that allow students earning an associate degree at Walters State to easily transfer credits into programs at Carson-Newman, putting them on the path to a four-year degree. Programs include:

  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
  • Finance & Economics
  • Homeland Security & Emergency Management
  • Management
  • Sport Management
