category: Campus News Students spending spring break serving others category: Campus News | March 2, 2023 Carson-Newman faculty, staff and students pray as they prepare to serve on mission trips during their spring break week. The gathering took place during the University’s commissioning service chapel. From coast to coast. That’s where 36 Carson-Newman students are serving others while on spring break. The opportunity is made possible through GenSend, a program developed through the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board to develop, support and deploy the next generation of everyday missionaries. This year C-N student teams are traveling to Denver, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and Barcelona, Spain. From working with homeless ministries and food pantries, to serving with missionaries and church plants, students have the opportunity to share the gospel and learn through service. “Our hope is that we would go to the ends of the earth to make disciples of all nations,” said Jeremiah Young, director of Campus Ministries. “At the same time, our prayer is that students will come back to see Carson-Newman with a new sense of the impact that they can make in the world around them for the sake of the Gospel.” Carson-Newman faculty, staff and students pray as they prepare to serve on mission trips during their spring break week.
