Music students finish strong at NATS competition

(Nov. 21, 2016) – The Tennessee National Association of Teachers of Singing held its Fall Workshop and Student Auditions on Nov. 11 and 12 at Carson-Newman University.

The following Carson-Newman music students placed in the event’s finals of competition that included students from University of Tennessee, Knoxville; East Tennessee State University and University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Freshman Women, 1st Place, Kaylee Kesterson; ‰Û¬3rd Place, Louis Schroft.‰Û¬Freshman Men, 1st Place, Bradley Thompson. Sophomore Men, 1st Place, Matt Huckaba.‰Û¬Upper Class Musical Theater, 1st Place, Andrew Campbell.‰Û¬Senior Men, 2nd Place, Seth Sheffield. Advanced Women, 1st Place, Meagan Sheffield.

Kesterson, Schroft, Campbell, Seth Sheffield and Meagan Sheffield are students of Professor Ann Jones, while Thompson and Huckaba are students of Dr. Angela Holder.

Dr. Sharon Mabry from Austin Peay University served as the featured workshop speaker, and also presented a master class for students. Staff accompanists for Carson-Newman students were Uwe Romeike, Naomi Martin and Carol Crutchley.
