Carson-Newman music fraternity chapter earns award 49 consecutive years

(Oct. 5, 2016) – Carson-Newman University’s chapter of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity has earned the Chapter of Excellence Award for 2015-16. The honor marks 49 consecutive years the Alpha Gamma chapter has received the honor, more than any other chapter in the nation.

Carson-Newman Professor of Music Ann Jones also earned the Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award, presented by the Delta Omicron Board of Directors. Senior and Chapter President Alex Haun and Chapter Secretary Chris Justice and junior, each received a $500 education grant for 2016-17 from the Delta Omicron Foundation, Inc.

Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,600 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
