category: Campus News Father and daughter combine artwork in new Appalachian Cultural Center exhibit category: Campus News | October 3, 2016 (Oct. 3, 2016) – Carson-Newman University’s Appalachian Cultural Center is hosting a new exhibit, “Legacy: Celebrating the Art of Family” through Oct. 27. The exhibit showcases the art of Lynne Alewine Stanger, a 2001 graduate, and Robert Alewine, a 1986 alumnus. The work by the daughter-father duo features photography and ceramics to celebrate a legacy of art and family. For 30 years, Gatlinburg-based Alewine Pottery has grown with the family. Now, three generations of artisans create nationally renowned pottery in a studio noted for stunning handmade ceramics and a friendly, fun-loving family atmosphere. The Appalachian Cultural Center is open Mondays and Wednesdays from Noon–3p.m, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. –2 p.m. The Center is located on Russell Ave. on Carson-Newman’s campus.
