Retired U.S. Army Major General and University alumnus Mike Jones to address December graduates

(Dec. 4, 2015) – Carson-Newman University will hold its Winter Commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 11. The 3 p.m. ceremony will be held in the University’s Holt Fieldhouse.

Retired U.S. Army Major General Mike Jones will deliver the commencement address. During the course of his over 30 years of military service, the 1977 Carson-Newman alumnus held such positions as director of operations for U.S. Central Command and commander of the Civilian Police Advisory and Assistance Training Team in Iraq. Jones has earned such honors as the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal. He now serves as an independent management consultant for The SPECTRUM Group in Alexandria, Virginia.

Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,500 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
