category: Campus News Dave Barnes to headline College Street Festival, April 18 category: Campus News | April 8, 2015 Dave Barnes (April 8, 2015) – Carson-Newman University will host a Saturday, April 18 concert featuring Grammy Award-nominated songwriter Dave Barnes. The concert is free and is part of a College Street Festival open to the greater community. “Dave Barnes is a great entertainer without question,” said Brent McLemore, director of Student Activities at Carson-Newman. “We’re expecting a lively performance that both our students and local community will enjoy.” The campus and community event will also feature booths by student organizations as well as local vendors including Tickle Me Turquoise, CC Belle, Taste of Dandridge and others. The festival begins at 4 p.m. with Dave Barnes performing at 8 p.m. A singer-songwriter, Barnes has produced multiple albums, with his most recent work “Hymns for Her” being released in February. His album “What We Want, What We Get” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. The album’s single “God Gave Me You” peaked at No. 21 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart and No. 13 on the magazine’s Christian Songs chart. The event will be held outside on the grounds of Henderson Humanities Building and Stokely Memorial Cafeteria. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Gentry Auditorium located in Henderson Humanities Building.
