Chapel service to feature Father Eric Hollas and Saint John’s Bible

Father Eric Hollas

Father Eric Hollas

(Feb. 17, 2014) – On Tuesday, Feb. 24, Carson-Newman University will host Father Eric Hollas, senior associate for Arts & Cultural Affairs at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. Hollas will be the guest speaker during the University’s Tuesday morning chapel service where he will feature volumes of the Saint John’s Bible.

Carson-Newman is currently hosting The Saint John’s Bible Exhibit. In September, the University joined a limited number of institutions world-wide to house a rare, full-size artistic reproduction of The Saint John’s Bible, the first handwritten and illuminated Bible in 500 years. Other locations include Yale University, Florida’s Naples Museum of Art, and the Vatican Museum of Art in Rome.

Prior to his current role, Hollas served as director of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library. While director, he began the initial conversation of The Saint John’s Bible project, leading to its commissioning in 1998.

Opened to the community, the Tuesday chapel service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of Jefferson City’s First Baptist Church.
