Jim Claborn to be honored at Carson-Newman event, Tuesday, April 23

Carson-Newman University will honor Morristown’s Jim Claborn with the 2013 Award for Outstanding Educational Service to Appalachia on Tuesday, April 23. The honor celebrates those who have worked for the betterment of the Southern Appalachian region.

A long time educator in Hamblen County, Claborn joins a list of past recipients that includes Eliot Wigginton, James Stil, Billy Landry, John Rice Irwin, Lee Smith, Helen Lewis and Jeff Daniel Marion.

A special 8 p.m. program will be held at C-N’s Appalachian Center. Admission is free.
