Feb. 18 CLS concert to feature Drs. Zumwalt and d’Amato

A Monday, Feb. 18, concert will feature the talents of saxophonist Dr. Wildy Zumwalt and pianist Dr. Alison Gay d’Amato. The duo will perform at 7:30 p.m. in C-N’s Thomas Recital Hall located in the Tarr Music Center. The event is part of Carson-Newman’s Concert-Lecture Series.

Zumwalt is a professor of saxophone at the State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music. Having performed throughout the U.S. and Europe, Zumwalt has become one of America’s most distinguished saxophone soloists and pedagogues. He is also a noted chamber musician and researcher.

d’Amato is a professor of vocal coaching and piano accompanying at the Eastman School of Music. She has performed at venues across North America, including Boston’s Jordan and Symphony Halls and New York’s Weill Recital Hall. She has also received rave reviews for her work with Toronto’s Opera In Concert as pianist.

Both Zumalt and d’Amato will be working with Carson-Newman music students in master classes while on campus.

The Monday event is free and open to the public.
