The first speaker in C-N’s Overcoming Odds chapel series, Abraham Deng shares his experiences as a member of the Lost Boys of Sudan.

Carson-Newman concluded its chapel series, Overcoming Odds, with speaker Lisa Price. Price, the owner of Jefferson City’s Lisa Price Photography, spoke to students about her conversion to Christianity and the obstacles she overcame in fleeing her country to begin a new life in the United States.

Price was the third speaker in the three-part series that featured Abraham Deng, a member of the Lost Boys of Sudan, as well as testimonies by members of Teen Challenge, a Christian faith-based ministry that strives to help residents overcome drug and alcohol addiction.

“The feedback we’ve received on this series has been very positive,” said C-N Director of Campus Ministries Nenette Measels. “I think it has touched everyone on a meaningful level.”
