Princeton Review: Carson-Newman “one of the best in the Southeast” for 2016

(Aug. 6, 2015) – The Princeton Review has again named Carson-Newman University as one of the best schools in the Southeast. The education services company recognized the nation’s top quarter of four-year higher education institutions in its “2016 Best Colleges: Region by Region” list.

“This is such great news to receive as we begin a new academic year, said Carson-Newman President J. Randall O’Brien. “Consistently being named by Princeton Review as one of the best in the South is an honor our entire Carson-Newman community can be proud of.“

The Princeton Review’s “Best in the Southeast” category included 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

“We chose Carson-Newman and the other outstanding institutions on this list primarily for their excellent academics,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s senior VP-publisher.

The Princeton Review editors made their selections based on data the company collected from its survey of administrators at several hundred colleges in each region, as well as its staff visits to schools over the years, and the perspectives of college counselors and advisors whose opinions the company solicits.

According to The Princeton Review, the list is determined by asking students attending the schools to rate their own schools on several issues — from the accessibility of their professors to quality of their science lab facilities– and answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life. Comments from surveyed students are quoted in the school profiles on The Princeton Review site. The profiles also have a “Survey Says” list that reveals topics about which students surveyed at the school were in highest agreement.

The Princeton Review, which is not affiliated with Princeton University, has been a pioneer and leader in helping students achieve their higher education goals through college and graduate school test preparation.
